
Futari Wagyu Don – A Japanese Classic
This recipe, a classic Japanese Don rice bowl, is topped with tender, seared Wagyu.
A simple yet refined dish that is ideal for a comforting meal at home, whether you're treating yourself or sharing with loved ones.

Ingredients
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 3 spring onions, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp yakiniku soy sauce
- 1 egg, gently poached
- Cooked short-grain rice
- 50–150g thinly sliced Futari Wagyu

Method
- Prepare the Wagyu – If needed, slice the Wagyu into thin 2–5mm slices. Let it come to room temperature and season lightly with salt.
- Cook the Rice – Prepare your rice using your preferred method.
- Sauté the Aromatics – Heat a pan over medium heat and cook the onion until soft and translucent. Add the garlic in the last two minutes of cooking.
- Cook the Wagyu – Heat a grill or frying pan over medium heat. Cook the Wagyu slices for 30 seconds to 1 minute per side, ensuring they remain tender and juicy.
- Assemble the Bowl – Fill a medium-sized bowl with steamed rice. Arrange the cooked Wagyu slices on top, followed by the onion and garlic. Drizzle lightly with yakiniku soy sauce.
- Top & Serve – Gently place the poached egg on top. Garnish with spring onions, sesame seeds, and nori.
- Enjoy! – Mix the egg into the warm Wagyu and rice for a rich, silky texture. Dig in and savor every bite!
