Futari Wagyu Don

Indulge in this classic Japanese Wagyu Don featuring Futari Wagyu.

A timeless Wagyu delicacy atop a bed of rice, perfect for enjoying in the comfort of your home.

Follow these instructions for a simple yet refined recipe to craft a delicious Wagyu dish to share with family or friends.

Ingredients (serves 1 - simply adjust amounts for additional servings):

  • 1 Onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 Spring Onions, finely chopped
  • 1 Garlic clove, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Yakiniku Soy Sauce
  • 1 Egg, gently poached
  • Cooked Short Grain Rice
  • 50-150 grams of thinly sliced Futari Wagyu

Optional Ingredients:

  • Sesame seeds
  • Thinly sliced nori (seaweed)

Method:

  1. If necessary, slice the Futari Wagyu into thin 2-5mm slices and allow it to reach room temperature. Lightly season the meat with salt according to preference.
  2. Prepare your rice using your preferred method.
  3. Sauté the onion over medium heat until translucent, adding the garlic during the final two minutes of cooking.
  4. Heat your grill or frying pan and cook the Wagyu slices over medium heat for 30 seconds to 1 minute on each side.
  5. Once the rice is cooked, serve it into a medium-sized bowl. Arrange the cooked Wagyu slices on top of the rice, followed by the cooked onion and garlic. Drizzle with a small amount of yakiniku sauce and place the gently poached egg on top.
  6. Finish with a sprinkle of chopped spring onion, sesame seeds and nori
  7. Mix the egg into the Wagyu and onions, and your delightful 'Wagyu Don' is ready to be enjoyed at home!
